From a money standpoint, yes. It is also our first top 25 showdown.

Not because of the name of the opponent, but because it is the next obstacle to overcome for a perfect season.

It could be any on the other 23 ranked teams. We just have to keep winning.

Give me 1992 vs. soon to be National Champion Alabama. 90,000 plus and the only game Bama played that year without scoring an offensive TD.

What was the score in that one?

This is certainly either number 1 or maybe 2. I'm old enough to remember our Division II national championship. Say what you will about this game, that one was great. However, when we win and go 12-0 and get a BCS bowl, then this one certainly becomes the better.

If we win this game, then it is the biggest win since moving to D-1A. If not, then it's just another game.

Billpup, if memory serves (and it sometimes doesn't) Bama had two FGs and were up 6-0 when their star player (Palmer?) ran back a punt late in the game to make it 13-0

We were the only team to play them that tough all year. I think our D was ranked in the top 5 that year.

I wouldn't say most important, but possibly most significant this season.

I was listening to game on an Alabama station and I will always remember his comment that it was special to see the number one (Alabama) and number two (Tech) defenses on the same field, if my memory serves me right.

I was at that game. What I wouldn't give to have that defense with this years offense! BUT, in my opinion the game Saturday is the most important game in the history of La Tech football simply because if we win, we should go to a BSC bowl. A BCS bowl will change the NATIONAL PERCEPTION of our university. We will be heavy favorites in most every other game on our schedule. Probably will be double digits for Utah State and San Jose St. More than 20 point favorites for everybody else.

Re: Is this the biggest game in Louisiana Tech History?

This is the biggest game. No contest. This game is being held in an era of unprecedented multimedia attention towards the end of the BCS buster era. The timing is incredibly perfect. Anybody that brings-up Alabama again is desperately holding on to a past that also includes a 6-60 record (or something very close to that #) record against BCS teams. BTW: The JUCO down the road beat Alabama (and sold-out their stadium for a game this year) as well.

I voted no, but now may rethink it. The problem is that the wins over Bama were a bigger deal, but no one really knew anything about us. Now analyst, fans, and RECRUITS are watching us every week. This is our chance to prove we are relevant outside of lil ole Ruston.
