Louisiana Tech basketball fans young and old will have an opportunity to enjoy a night filled with haunts and hoops as the annual Bulldog and Lady Techster Basketball Bonanza will be held this year in conjunction with the 14th annual student athlete sponsored Halloween Carnival.

I'll do a report on this. GREAT to have basketball beginning (WBB and MBB) even with such a special football season in progress.

Basketball is BACK IN THE TAC!!
Lots of energy and fun tonight. Attendance has grown noticeably in the four years I've gone, several hundred there. A huge Band of Pride contingent, two full sections plus the drums, flag corps, huge group of coed cheerleaders, and of course the lovely Regal Blues! Pizza and pepsi in the concourse, plus kids activities by Tech sports teams. Baseball guys had a net for kids to throw into and a radar gun to measure velocity: bowling team had two lanes with plastic bowling pins and balls; soccer team had a net with ball to kick/toss and a goalie, but... the kids seemed to beat the goalie every time:icon_wink:; volleyball with balloons (heard a player tell a girl "you ought to come play for us in a few years); tennis lessons with racquets and a nerf ball; mens and womens track presence. Our athletes were smiling, approachable to kids, and really into being there. Wonderful to see.
Teams and coaching staff introduced with band playing, cheerleaders and Regal Blues lining the court, darkened with spotlights. Three point contest won by guys 22 - 16, four shooting simultaneously for a minute. Langston lit it up for the ladies, hit at least 8. Guys played full court about 5 minutes, Massey and Jaron Johnson showed incredible athleticism: WOW!! Gibson hit two threes from waaaay downtown. Girls ran drills, Shelton is an athlete and a leader, and Lulu Perry just stands out with her enthusiasm and energy. Even running out for her introduction she had "it." Spoon called "The General" and one of our defensise Dawgs out of the stands to pass basketballs on one of the fast break drills & gave a nice shout out to the Dawgs.
Then the dunk contest: girls, on a lowered goal, won by Lulu who jumped over a bending Sara Carter to hit one. Michael Kyser smoked 'em in the guys dunking, nailing one bigtime as he jumped over two guys!!!Alma mater ended a great evening. Guys play an exhib Thursday night.

Was that Louisiana Tech you were describing?!! Did BVDV organize this? Wow!! THAT'S the way to start basketball!
I think Leah is numero uno that headed this event up. It was a great job! IMO the guys look good. Good heighth. The girls look good as well!! A little small, but hopefully, we are fast! Lulu is a card. She has a little of TJ in her personality. She is going to be FUN to watch!!

Leah reports directly to BVDV. It appears the athletic admins had it together at all levels on this one.
Yes, I understand, but as Leah was the one running around coordinating everything and BVDV was sitting in the crowd with his family, I like to give credit where credit is due. JM2B

Excellent comparison. Lulu, like TJ (Tamicha Jackson), has a jaunty vitality and entertainer's flair about her. She'll be an instant fan favorite, and if her skills turn out to be good we've got ourselves a very special Techster!!
