    Softball. Tech Releases 2013 Softball Schedule

    A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:

    Four tournaments, a home doubleheader against SEC foe Ole Miss, 21 Western Athletic Conference games and hosting the 2013 WAC Tournament highlight Louisiana Tech's 2013 softball schedule released on Tuesday.

    So we start play Feb 8 and don't play our first home game until March 20? Wow is all I can say. Maybe we can get the facility work done between now and March 20.

    Who negotiated this schedule...Bruce??? I guess before Coach Montgomery was hired, they left this in the AD's hands??? HUGE mistake. (Sorry, Bdfanatic--I know you're his biggest fan--let's see you defend this.)

    That would be Sara Dawson the previous coach. The coaches do the scheduling except in football where the AD has input due to the financial impact.

    The outgoing coach negotiated the schedule. Apparently she did not like playing in Ruston, scheduling the fewest home games possible for the last 3 years. This spring's first home game is 6 weeks into the season. It is not a very challenging schedule, either. For example, playing Southern & Alcorn State a total of seven times. Perfect year for us to host the tournament, however, with the weakest WAC in years. We don't have much depth but the ladies we have work very hard.
