We Lost a true LA Tech Bulldog fan last Saturday.

My best friend of 46 years and La Tech college roommate from 1967-1970, Phillip Watkins, died of a heart attack just prior to the UTSA football game. We had already gotten into the Joe, and were putting the seatbacks on our bench seats, when he had a heart attack. It was about 2:10PM. He was TECH graduate and only 63 years of age.

We had already done our tailgating and talked with friends. He was having a great time. We have been season ticket holders for the past 6 years. He died doing what he loved most.......going to a TECH football game.

I saw the ambulance but didn't think anything of it. Please accept my condolences.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. This explains why we had ambulances at the entrance on the west side of the Joe when we were trying to enter the stadium Saturday. Didn't realize someone had died. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I am very sorry for this loss. As I entered the concourse out of the stadium ramp I observed a fan applying CPR on someone in the stands until the paramedics took over.

Oh, my, that really puts things in perspective, doesn't it? I'm so very sorry. Was there another incident as well? I didn't see ambulances at the time you mentioned, but there was an ambulance with lights on that left the north end zone at some time in the game. I don't recall seeing a player get hurt who looked like they'd be taken to hospital, but maybe I missed it.

We will be praying for all of you...such a loss. I was also with my college friend from 1971-1975 at the game so I understand.

I will miss my long time friend. He and I graduated from High School together, and we journeyed down Highway 80 from Shreveport together to Louisiana Tech in the fall of 1967. We both got married, and dropped out of college. In 1990, we both returned to finish our degrees. He LOVED his BULLDOGS. Rest easy old friend.
