He isn't solely responsible for what became Boise St and he failed miserably at Colorado. But what I remember about him is getting the most out of 2 and 3 Star recruits. He was a good motivator and believed in physical football. I think he would be a good coach here. Becoming Boise St is really up to North Louisiana football fans.

Yeah, I agree. My hope is that he was involved enough to be able to get us going in that direction. Your point about his getting he most out of second tier recruits is what has me interested in giving him another shot. I think he works better with those recruits because they play with a chip on their shoulder that he's able to manipulate. Whereas, the 4 and 5 star players, many times, expect special treatment and aren't as easily motivated in some cases.

I wonder if Coach Dykes will give some props to Dooley for his recruiting. The juniors and seniors are Dooley recruits.

"Arkansas is going after Louisville coach Charlie Strong very hard. Strong is an Arkansas native and has a number of connections in the sec" And UK is looking at the WKU coach that beat them this year 32-31.

Re: Dykes #1 on Coaching Wish List

They have had big programs try to hire Gary Patterson (TCU) for years and the same can be said of Chris Petersen (Bosie). They are great coaches that have dedicated themselves to building their respected programs to the top level. I hope Dykes follows coaches like these and not give in to the $. If Dykes leaves the program, I hope it is after several years and we are on that top level. Dan Hawkins built Bosie to that next Level (got them pointed in the direction), left the program, and they actually got better with replacement (Petersen). It would be kind of $hitty if Dykes jetted out after just 2 seasons. Hey, speaking of Hawkins, I bet he wished he had never left Bosie an went to Colorado. I also bet that Dooley wishes he stayed at TECH

Im not a football coach and will never be one, but watching football (esp. SEC) they have this coaching Carousel 0% job security. The pressure put on these coaches is tremendous. You can even win the National Championship and you can still be placed on the Hot seat (Gene Chizik). You can even have winning seasons, top ranked, but lose against your rival too many times (hot seat) Some Gator fans are actually calling for Muschamp's head because he lost to UGA back to back. Sometimes these big programs are not the best place to be.

Dykes, just use your head please!!!

Well, if I remember correctly, what helped Boise maintain their success is that each replacement coach was already an assistant in the program and had bought into the philosophy of how to move the program forward. I think that is why when you see some of their coordinators that have left for more high profile schools for the same position, they aren't quite as great as they were at Boise.

Another option I would like to look into if Dykes leaves is seeing about getting Kliff Kingsbury from A&M, although he might still be too young for a HC position. Maybe if Dykes stays around another year, he might be ready to take over. I think that kid has a bright, bright future. If there were some way Dykes could entice him to come over by guaranteeing him he'd be the next HC when Dykes leaves in a year or two.

There will be a national search. No one even knew who Sonny Dykes was 4 years ago. I bet we get another good one.

What a shame we don't consider that approach when seeking a university president.

In my opinion it is not Arkansas we need to be worrying about, it's the domino effect. If Strong at UL gets hired by Arkansas or some other big program, would UL offer enough to get Dykes.

Regarding Patterson at TCU: Am I the only one that thinks that Patterson may have a win at all costs mentality. His program at a Christian school has been hammered by multiple drug and alcohol problems. I think he is a great coach, but I would be very concerned about his "program".

I agree 100%. Something bad happens there every 4 weeks or so.
