At the end of the day the players are still a bunch of kids - doing their best (was going to say trying their best but not sure tonight) - anyway - they should pay for poor performance by being benched - don't care if second / third string are "not ready" - first string are not good!
Firing...that is definitely the coach being "benched" and I don't think I would wait - do it before the bowl game. Either the player's will respond positive to new ideas from another coach - OR - they will try harder 'cos they want to win one for Tommy - I don't care - they just have to fight for something!
I think this will help the offense too - they have had enough of trying to dig this team out of a lost cause - and tonight you could tell. I think it would have happened last week other than for the home crowd support and the chance to win the WAC - without those it was just a game and when your colleagues don't seem to care then eventually you can be dragged down too. First time this season we have not believed we could win!

Legit question: Is firing Spangler as simple as firing Rupp?
I expect a 1000 members by tomorrow.
Without knowing the first thing about it, there's probably some complexity with his contract. Anyone in the know on this?

Ok people.... This year was less than stellar on D.... No doubt about it... I put complete faith in Dykes to make the call to keep or let Spangler go....(assuming Dykes stays at Tech).... CSD knows what went wrong this year on D...and if GATA is still something that can be found again... We must keep the faith.... This was a fun year and 2 winning seasons back to back is a start to making a program...our program..so again keep the faith...
Besides...we all remember the days of changing DC every year or so for like 10 staight years and wishing we had some consistently on that side of the ball...I dont think we have had a DC this long for 20 years....it was a bad year...so Dykes knows what is going on...Dykes stays.... It's his call... dykes goes then let the statistics take front seat..
I don't agree that Dykes is capable of determining what is good for the defense. The only thing he can do is fire Spangler and seek the best possible replacement he can find. He has to admit he knows nada about defense, and just stay out of it.
Actually, it's unacceptable for the Head Coach to be utterly ignorant of any phase of the game. A specialty is expected, complete ignorance and disinterest in other phases of the game is not.
