It is called the option..... It has never been seen before in college football.... It consists on the quarterback having the "option" to run with the ball, or pitch the ball to someone else.. The bulldog defense has seen tape of running quarterbacks before, but admitted that they had never seen this pitch before.
LOL.
But in fairness, the option is a difficult thing to deal with. Its a talent equalizer. that's why the academies run it.
If you don't practice against it a lot, you will have trouble.

Our defense looks bad against the Option, the Pistol, the Pro-Set, the Spread, the Wishbone, the Run and Shoot, the Power I, and the 6th grade offense from West Monroe Middle School. We do not care about defense... only the stats our offense is able to put up.

did TX St. run the option before this week?
Yes.
Texas State got a whopping 82 yds rushing, about 150 yds total and all of 7 pts against Utah State.
They had 300 yds rushing, 577 total, and every bit of 55 pts against us.
The games were one week apart. It's NOT like Utah State played 'em back in early Sept and maybe things have changed. No. They played them Nov 3rd.
In fact, the last three games, USU played the opponent the week before we did:
USU 41 NMSU 7
USU 48 UTSA 17
USU 38 TSU 7
Have given a whole 31 pts, TOTAL, vs. those three.
We gave up 34 pts in one half, vs. one of those three.
Tx St also used a "forward pass" that seemed to give the defense trouble (particularly the back 5). Now that we've seen it, I'm sure Spangs will have them ready for Utah St.
Jokes aside, I expect them to step up next week.
You need speed, sound tackling, and assignment D to control the option attack or scrambling qb..............I think i know our weakness
yeah, they watched Remember the Titans last week and put in that new offense.
If i were utah st, i would start practicing some of this option just to toy with us next week.
didn't UTSA run a few plays and we shut it down??
Did Texas State run the same offense against us that they have been using all season?
