Yep. And make no mistake, that was a true concession by the Big 5 conferences. Of course, the 5 "mid majors" as you call them, will now include the Big East.

Biggest and only issue I have with this set up is that we are essentially garaunteed that we will never play in the Rose, Sugar or Orange bowls. The Up side it that the Cotton, Fiesta and chick fila bowl are now there for the taking.
And I wish like hell they would change the chick fila bowl back to the Peach Bowl. It sounds more like a BCS bowl and less like a Sunbelt vs MAC bowl in Detroit.
I guess we should be happy not to be locked out.
6 bowls = 12 teams. 1 mid major, so we have 11 spots for the big 5. Assuming Notre Dame qualifies, then we have spots for 2 from each conference (or upto 6 SEC schools.)
What point is it to win your conference championship? (just the cash from the game)
The rich get richer!
Yeah, all they have to do to get in is be the best their conference, we have to the best team out of 5 conferences.
They took it out a couple of years ago. The overly comercialization of bowlgames, has taken a lot of historical ramifications out of football. Use too people would brag about how many Orange Bowl appearances or Rose Bowl apearances. Now do you think anybody gives a crap how many godaddy.com bowls you have been to? Nope! I say Bring back the Peach!!!
We're the best team out of those 5 confrences now. No reson we cant do it on a consistant basis. Or at least contend for that spot. If we can do that, should become real attractive o big 12 when they decide to go back to 12.
Not if our OOC schedule consists of upper tier BE and MWC teams or teams from AQ conferences. We just have to win those games.
Nothing will change with polls and computer rankings. We have to do what we did this year on a consistent basis and we will be in that spot.
Even though this is better than nothing, I still don't see why a lawsuit doesn't happen. If all 5 of the now "non-aq" conferences came together, it would be a win. The playoffs need to be expanded. All conferences on equal footing. Take the winner of each conference, seed them like in basketball by a combination of polls, computer rankings, rpi, etc... That gives you 6 games in the first round? Use the current bowls to do this. You could even go up to 12 first round games, if they wanted to favor the aq's with at large bids.
What is a mid-major? I thought we were classified as FBS.
Given this arrangement, what is the advantage of Boise St. and San Diego St. being in the Big East over the Mountain West?
