Well said"bulldawgfanatic...Also tonight's coaches show he was very detailed and very good. Probably one the Nay - Sayers would not like. Why ? He answered most of their questions and negative comments. Coach Dykes gave us a sneak preview into the future of Tech Football for next season as well. Made great comments about our fans at the game as well...We have a darn good football team this - I said "TEAM"

The past 2 seasons have been entertaining. Tech is 17-7 in the past 24 games.
5 of the 7 losses could have gone either way:
19-17 at #14 Southern Miss
35-34 vs #18 Houston
26-20 in OT at Miss State
59-57 vs #10 Texas A&M
48-41 in OT vs #25 Utah St
The next step is winning the close ones against good teams.

OK, so scratch CA and UTSA because they are not FBS or did not play an FBS schedule. That leaves two wins in the last two years, so far, against FBS teams with winning records.
So we are better than the bad teams (even the ones in the SEC, Big 10, and ACC), but we are just short of being as good as the elite teams.
I wouldn't label any team with a winning record an elite team; and just being in an AQ conference likewise does not constitute being elite. We are better than bad teams, just not better than teams with winning records. We have a long way to go on our journey, but it has at least started.

In the spirit of thanksgiving, I am very grateful for this truly historic season. I have attended games since I was about six years old - 43 now. That is 37 years of bulldawg football, baseball,b-ball. I remember the transition to FBS (IA) in the late 80s. I remember the road to the Independence Bowl as an independent in '91. This was made possbile by a last second win over Colorado State (last game of season) to get to 8 wins in front of a whopping 12k or less in the stands. The few students that were there tore down the goal post - I was one of them.
For the most part since moving to FBS, Tech has always been very competitive, and though progress at times has been slow, we have continued as a program to grow. I am very proud of the accomplishments of this team and staff this season. I think we have at the very least solidified our program as one to reckon with and hopefully we can continue to raise the bar a little more each year. The first 37 years have been fun and I can't wait to see the next 37.
