Last week the night before the game Dixon was up vomiting all night to the point that he had to have IVs before the game.
I hope he isn't still sick. I don't know what lasts that long. Mono?
Anyways thats probably not it but I wanted to throw that out there.
Bill Walsh posthumously catches a 38 yard pass across the middle and runs it in for another score.
if you like "basketball on grass", fast pace football, this is what you get. we will generally beat inferior teams with our pace. and our offense can be great, it was again tonight. but the last two weeks we played teams that run the ball, that play D, and that are more physical then we are. and we got beat because of it.
look at the top teams in the country when the dust settles, notre dame, bama, georgia, florida. they all can play D. who won our conference, utah state, they play D. who will probably win the pac 12, the conference with the run and gun reputation...stanford, they run the ball and play D.
defense wins in sports 95% of the time. who won the world series this year? the not very glamarous san francisco giants, with pitching and defense. the super offense saints won the super bowl one year, the year they led the league in turnover ratio; they also ran the ball well that year.
this is football. power beats finesse when the talent level is relatively equal the majority of the time. it always has and it always will.
anybody see a pattern here?
If Cael wants to attend another Tech game in person, please urge him to stay home...Tech is 0-3 with him in person.
I was watching the game 'live' on ESPN2.
My dad come in and tells me the game is over; Louisiana Tech throws an INT to seal the loss. He said he saw it on ESPN. The 'live' feed on ESPN2 and the internet (ESPN.com and score tracker Ap) still showed 5 minutes on the clock. I told him he was crazy and didn't see the end; the game was still ongoing.
Sure enough, the game ended with Colby throwing a pick and my dad says that was exactly how it went down.
Anyone else have a similar experience, WTF?
Re: george's and steltz's posts
You are both correct.
In this case, cuz Tech's offense is so good, it would not require a top 10 defense to win. A defense ranked in the 50ish range would have allowed a 12-0 regular season, but, might have caused us problems in a BcS bowl opposite a powerful running/defensive team. A stronger defense, at least ranked in the 20s would have allowed us to win a BcS bowl vs. anybody, and I mean ANYBODY!
In general, however, if your offense isn't so podent, like ND, like Bama, like Florida....you HAVE to have a top 10 defense to be ultimately successful.
It's a sliding scale. Oh, and have to factor in special teams too.
An Iguana with a football duct taped to his back just scored another touchdown for San Jose State.
In the San Jose paper it commented that they had over 600 yards. The first time since a 2006 win over La Tech.
Anyone hear about Dixon's lack of playing time since yesterday?
