Jeeeeez... I thought C-USA was eroded enough as it is! Hell, as good as the WAC looked this year, maybe a couple teams could go back that direction and we can just stay put in the WAC! haha
Looking back at previous Big East picks, East Carolina surprises me more than Tulane. Their MO has been to pick losers from large metro areas.
In my opinion, a football only invite is a slap in the face to ECU especially when you give Tulane an all sports invite.
Tulane must have sold their on-campus stadium as the basis of future competitiveness.
Yet another weird aspect to it: They do understand. They have to. They've all (okay, not all, but most) been conference-mates with Tulane. The New Orleans market isn't even appreciably larger than Tulsa!
It has to be the relationships. Or the basketball schools. Or the stadium commitment. This is the first decision by the conference that has really left me baffled.
University of Houston '01. Any references to "we" or "us" likely refer to UH. Cheers!
Agreed! Even if the cannot strike a deal, just stand pat. Do not invite other SBC schools right now.
Since Charlotte was a concession more or less to ECU, can we swap them for Appy State now?
CUSA in two years (as it stands now):
Old Dominion
UC Charlotte
Marshall
FIU
UAB
USM
Tech
Rice
Tulsa
North Texas
UTSA
UTEP
They appear to have money from supporters- maybe they can buy some fans to attend the game. Otherwise that is going to be empty. It is shocking to me that anyone wants them. I was looking forward to our crushing them- I guess they were too, so they got out instead.
Conference USA will be at 12 when Charlotte and ODU make it in. So no further expansion should be necessary IF there are no further losses.
