Turns out the MBB schools have zero leverage.

And they have zero leverage because it's almost impossible to start a new conference under the current NCAA rules. Besides, over the past few months, in their TV contract negotiations, the Big East has learned how badly ESPN wants to keep the basketball portion of the deal.

Given those two facts, they've moved forward with all-sports expansion. But like many others, I am surprised that it was Tulane over Tulsa. The TV markets are actually somewhat similar, especially given the fact people in Tulsa actually watch Tulsa sports.

This is a ridiculous statement and I'd wish people would stop, CUSA is leagues better than SBC due to Bowl tie-ins, TV package, and name recognition. We don't have Mr. Peanut asleep at the wheel and CUSA still has a very good makeup of teams...

If CUSA can keep Southern Miss and Tulsa I will agree with you. If not, there isn't much difference b/t the 2 leagues. TV packages can be renegotiated and both conferences have 5 bowl teams this year. Not much difference really.

Ask any team in the Sunbelt if they would rather be in C-USA or the Sunbelt and I think you will find a difference...
