I look for Tulsa to be next to go now.
And they have zero leverage because it's almost impossible to start a new conference under the current NCAA rules. Besides, over the past few months, in their TV contract negotiations, the Big East has learned how badly ESPN wants to keep the basketball portion of the deal.
Given those two facts, they've moved forward with all-sports expansion. But like many others, I am surprised that it was Tulane over Tulsa. The TV markets are actually somewhat similar, especially given the fact people in Tulsa actually watch Tulsa sports.
I definitely was not in favor of it, but I wonder, when all the smoke clears, if we'd have been better off choosing Sun Belt over CUSA.
