Say what you will about it, but the MAC has seen the least amount of shakeup of any conference. Off the top of my head, and I may have missed one, I recall Marshall leaving for CUSA, and the MAC inviting Buffalo. Other than that, the same schools have been together for decades and decades.
In football, when the dust settled, Kent State got the closest to being this year's BcS buster.

Temple was out, then in, now out again...right? Wasn't UCF in the MAC for a season or two?
Good recall JL. They had to park there for a while because C-USA didn't want them.
And UMass.
But yes, they have remained very stable for the most part. At least anybody who cares knows who is in the conference, unlike most of the rest of them.
I was thinking about this last week when all the poaching was going on by the new Big East. I thought it was strange that the nBE only wanted to poach CUSA teams, and not any MAC teams. And yet, it was the MAC teams this year that were consistently ranked in the Top 25 (Kent St, N Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, etc...)
my memory may be foggy, but it seems that historically, CUSA teams perform better at longer stretches than most of the other nonBcS conferences. They are probably betting that the CUSA teams will bounce back and remain relevant better than other schools. I don't think Houston or USM stay down long. Kind of like the success of the sunbelch teams this season. Once in a decade they shine.
Don't write off NIU just yet...it should be no lower than #17 in the final BC$ standings, and #16 is still possible.
I cant believe they could jump from 21 to 16.
