    Boise St staying in MWC

Boise State will remain a member of the Mountain West Conference and will not join the Big East in 2013, sources said Monday.
The Broncos' decision on Monday is the latest crippling blow to the Big East Conference, which has had 14 schools announce they were leaving the league in the past two years.
The Broncos will remain a Mountain West member in all sports instead of joining the Big East next year as a football-only member and the Big West in all other sports.Even though Boise State never spent a day in the Big East, the Broncos still must pay a $10 million exit fee to the Big East. The Mountain West is expected to help pay that fee, sources said.

I haven't been keeping up. Is this bad for us because it is assumed that the BE will gobble up CUSA-E teams? Is there no possibility that the BE would dissolve as a football conference?

Boy, did San Jose State land on their feet. The Mountain West is a strong conference and will only get better. Watch as they dip into Texas.

There's no way Big East football goes away. None of those schools are coming back to C-USA. ESPN and NBC will protect the Big East. They will continue to raid C-USA, and we aren't a target. The only good news is that UMass just moved up, and maybe they will be a target.

I don't think we know if it fell our way or not. There are so many scenarios that can happen now:

Houston and SMU go to MWC?
    Tulane back to CUSA?
All three of the above stay in Big East and they pick up a couple more CUSA team?
If they try to pick up CUSA teams, we may or may not be one.
    Big East could kill football.
    UConn still a question.

If the Big East tries to keep football, they will need strength now without Boise. They don't need market as much as strength to help their brand.

Would UConn consider approaching the ACC about a membership minus football - ND type deal.

Not good for us in any way. This could be final blow to our conference aspirations.

Houston and SMU will never be in conference with NT and UTSA. They stay big east or go to MWC.
    Tulsa will go to MWC.
    Southern Miss to big east.
    Rice to MWC.
    UTEP to MWC.

    MWC is old WAC
    Big East is old CUSA
    CUSA is Sun Belt+

We are a "tweener". Stuck right in middle of sun belt level and MWC level. Better than belch, but not quite enough clout to move up.

No. UConn just has to be patient. Their ACC invite will come after the Big Ten Network and SEC Network raid the ACC. That should happen within the next 2 years.

According to this article, Boise will have to pay a $5 Million exit fee to the Big East, and some of that is expected to be negotiated down. The MWC will also pay part of the fee.

As for the future, it looks like SMU, Houston, SDSU, Tulsa & UTEP will likely join Boise and the MWC's current 10 teams to make a solid 16-team league. That's where this is going. As for the Big East, Navy will likely pull out, so EC & Tulane are up a creek.

Good god man. Just go away if you are going to be that negative. You sound just like all those dummies here on BB&B a year ago who were CERTAIN LA Tech would have to join the Sunbelt in order to save itself.

How do people like you even get up out of bed in the morning?
