While I would hope they would, I am not very confident that it would happen. I could easily see them getting an all sports BE invite now that the BB 7 are gone due to their previous ties and history with most of the conference (along with Tulsa and perhaps Rice). They would not hesitate to leave us behind if they needed to. Look at it from their viewpoint, what is in it for USM to drag us along?
MWC = New WAC
BE = New CUSA
CUSA = New SBC
SBC = Dead (a KB special superhero ability)
Exactly. Look at it from their viewpoint. Setting high goals and wishful thinking are wonderful, but you have to put yourselves in the shoes of each school, conference commissioner, athletic director, university president, and tv executive to understand what has happened and to predict what will happen in the future. Looking at conference realignment from the perspective of an optimistic LaTech fan doesn't give you a clear view of the situation.
I am beginning to think you have more of a totally pessimistic view of the situation. The Big East is going to need someone that can win games in that conference too. Southern Miss won how many this year? They will right the ship, but Tech is a proven winner (even with a new coach). If you have low expectations, you will get low results.
How do Houston and SMU feel about UTSA? If the Big East is looking to add a competitive team to complement the "market" teams, I feel pretty good about our chances with USM. If they are looking for another market team, I'm scared to death of UTSA getting in. Hopefully Houston and SMU aren't fond of them.
I sure hope that we have decided not to be 'satisfied' and happy in CuSA and not want better!!!!
We have fought, kicked, bitched, moaned and begged to be in a better spot and now that spot is not in CUSA!
If our administrators truly feel that way, they should let us know now so we can not worry about it and settle! We can also do lots of other "fun things" with our $$$$$$! Either you want to be one of the best or you don't!
A conference with UTSA, UNT, FIU, W Ky, UN- Charlotte, & MTSU ain't the best we can do! If we don't realize it, I guarantee you USM, Tulsa, & Rice do!!!! They won't stick long so we better be ready to go with them!
