The belief is that this will be a one-year issue (2013 season) for football, as the expectation is that the Sun Belt will be back up to at least 10 football playing institutions in 2014.
Troy will replace the lost Belch game for next season with a home-and-home with Duke.

Florida Atlantic negotiated their Belch exit fee from $1 million down to $700,000.

Which the first year in Conference USA may cover. I'm not sure why C*USA is anxious to split the pie more ways, but maybe FAU and MTSU worked that into their agreement that they could leave the SBC early if they could arrange it.

MTSU and the Sun Belt had squabbled over the previous long-standing exit fee of $500,000 and the newer penalty of $1 million, voted in by the executive committee last spring.
Benson said the Sun Belt’s bylaws need to be changed to more clearly restrict a school’s early exit because current rules requiring a notification date of departure are incomplete.
Benson also said pressure was put on the remaining schools to determine a reduced exit fee for MTSU and FAU in order to adjust their football schedules, so the Sun Belt executive committee “reluctantly settled.”
Benson said the departures might delay but not deter the Sun Belt’s progress.“We were on our way,” said Benson, who took over as Sun Belt commissioner last spring. “... We were hoping we had time to build the conference to the point where we could stand alongside Conference USA with a comparable name. But we will eventually get there.”

Benson said that while Sun Belt teams do have a $1 million early exit fee, there is no bylaw that says when the departing teams need to tell the Sun Belt they are leaving. The cloud of indecision, as Benson put it, was FAU and MTSU's leverage in negotiations, and with member schools looking to finalize 2013 football schedules, the Sun Belt Executive Committee "reluctantly" offered a $700,000 buyout to bring closure to the situation. That offer was accepted by the schools.

With Staub's scheduling technique at LaMon they may end up with only 4 home games this year.
So you're saying that their fans will only have 4 chances to stay home and miss a game?
How does that jive with the (oft-mention, but rarely seen) rule that FBS programs MUST host 5 home games annually?
I'd have to think they would take the unforseen circumstances into account.
LaMon has Grambling and Tulane (unless they buy it out) in Monroe. Good chance they will have 5 home games. Congrats Bobby!
