Ouch!! That's just plain embarrassing to have your own student newspaper do that to you.

still doesn't make sense to me why they want a new stadium when they can't even get more than a couple thousand in the Superdome

I guess that proves that a crap load of people in New Orleans must be sitting at home watching the game on TV?! Like the old saying goes, if Tulane plays a game on TV would anyone see a commercial?

Over the last 20 years, only 2 games had higher attendance than our 1998 game...and LSU was one of those!

Those of us that grew up in N.O. and go back frequently knew this all along. Tulane is an embarrassment to Louisiana with their arrogant and cocky attitude and suck butt attendance. What's hard to believe is that the BE conference bought into their lies. The BE should sue Tulane for gross deceit and falsehoods after what they helped cause all of the defections after being accepted into that conference.

Honestly, there's been a lot of hype in the local sports world about Tulane football over the past two years. I mean, not as much as LSU... or the Saints... or the Hornets... or Highschool football.

But still, I would have thought they were at least pushing 10-12k. I mean, 6500 people barely effects traffic patterns in the CBD.

Hope the Big East is happy with their media market. lol.

Same thing over here with SMU. Hardly anyone goes and they've had a winning record lately.

I guess the idea is that more will show up if the game is on campus. At least they might get a few more student walk ups who have nothing else to do but study...

During their undefeated season we were by far their largest-attended home game.

    Navy September 26, 1998 6,775
    Southern Miss October 3, 1998 19,699
    Louisville October 17, 1998 15,925
    USL October 31, 1998 15,143
    Houston November 21, 1998 15,966
    Louisiana Tech November 26, 1998 27,211

... in large part thanks to 10,000 Tech fans who made the trip.

And that one game between us and Tualne drew more than the Greenies drew the entire season in 2012

I thought it was at least 12000 Tech fans.

And this demonstrates why "market" means very little. Nobody has a tougher time attracting fans than these big city universities. The fervor is in college towns, like Oxford, MS, Tuscaloosa, AL, etc.

I think Tech has more potential than most universities out there. Besides that, it's a beautiful campus.

Agreed. With those smaller cities, the team is literally the only game in town. NO is a huge city...there's other stuff to do than go to a Tulane game. But there's nothing to do in Ruston...except go to a Tech game. Problem is, we have the most apathetic marketing dept in the history of the world.

Tulane's marketing must be really bad. they've got a million people 30 minutes from their campus and they can't draw 5,000 to a game.
