Had to miss the game last night. How were the concessions?
They were out of all candy except Twislers at halftime.
Pepsi is what it is.
The aesthetic appearance of our consession area looks like a class B junior high basketball gym. The menu is taped to the counter, the back counter is being propped by a few 2x4s, there needs to be a live tv feed or at least radio in the concession area, and the menu selection is worse than a little leave ball field.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the TAC the last two games and love watching this team that never quits BUT the details at the TAC consession stands could be handled so much better.
Renovating the consession areas and writing operation manuals to go along with them could be a BBB project. (seriously, is there interest?)
Not to mention they had pizza boxes on the counter not for sale. My son got his heart set on pizza, but when we got up there they said it was just for students. I like the free pizza for students, but when the rest of your concessions are so bad the pizza is like a tease.
Does anybody from the AD's department attend games, go to the concession stands, or use the restrooms? I have given Bruce a pass on a lot things, but this is somethin definitely within his area of responsibility to fix.
Bdfanatic attends the games. He is very close to our athletic department. Should we dig up the concessions thread from last year's MBB season? I keep thinking in my mind how well UTA ran their basketball arena operations. I know this is a 70 million dollar facility, but we should definitely do some things differently.

would it be that hard to give the concession area a face lift and add some tv screens around the TAC concourse?
It's pretty dumb to have our OSLs running our concession stand at the TAC. The student leaders should be in the student section, not serving nachos and Pepsi.
We probably save a couple of hundred each game by doing this. That adds up over time.
And UTA runs a full menu while averaging less than 1200 fans a ballgame!

son went down at right at the start of the second half to get us some food. came back and said they were out of hotdogs, pizza (didnt realize that was just the free stuff for students), popcorn and cold drinks . . . . . . . . . . . . . well, sonic made a little extra cash after the game that could have been spent at the TAC
Over the years I have gone through the following stages regarding concessions and Tech:
1. "I wish Tech would put a little more thought into the concessions."
2. "Now that we are in the WAC we really need to put more effort into concessions."
3. "Gee, they are really struggling with this, I wouldn't think it was this hard."
4. "Alright, Oaks is either a moron or just isn't trying."
5. "Awesome, with Dooley and this new Aramark company we should really start taking gameday seriously!"
6. "This s**t is worse than before!?"
7. "Pepsi!?"
8. "I'll just drink bottles water that I brought in and wait for the Chick-Fil-A guy to come around."
