Kyser is on pace to break 100.
One big game Thursday and he jumps from 6th to 2nd.
I thought he got cheated last night of several blocks...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
There was a first half partial block right in front of us that didn't get counted. In the second half, it appeared he got another one on the other end of the floor. In defense of the official scorer, it's hard to see them all. Partial blocks are really hard to spot. He's missed out on getting credit many times this year. It's happened to other players in other years.
No doubt it is sometimes difficult to score a block or assist or steal. They are all judgment calls. I just want to see our official scorer be tuned into those stats because we have some historic efforts going on by a couple of Sophomores.
Kyser is 7th in the country in blocks and he is playing less minutes than pretty much everyone in the top 20. I don't want him to be given anything except for a fair shake. If it is close at home, give the kids their stats. You know that is what is happening in every other arena in the country.
A deflected shot does not count as a block, just as a missed shot. It is also a judgement call as to when a deflected shot becomes a block. On the play I mentioned in the first half, the ball was not batted backwards, but sideways. It was more than a deflection and, from my vantage point, should have been counted as a block. The official scorer did not have the great view of it that I had.
The one I complained about a couple of games back was on a foul by Gibson with Kyser blocking the continuation. Shooter shot two. Had it gone would have been an "and 1" situation. No block credited even though NCAA stat book clearly states should have been.
I counted five blocks in the first half, watching JFord's video.
