Well, there is a HUGE difference between pigtails and Opie. He is a class act, a class individual. The kind of person you want influencing young people, and representing your organization. Can't help it if another school in the state recognized all those qualities and his own alma mater did not.
McConathy is not a good coach. Sorry man. He may be better than Kerry Rupp, but he aint near Mike White or Konkol. There is a reason he has been stuck in that crap town for years.

Your missing the point. One time, 10 years ago, he won a NCAA game after winning the Southland tournament. Does life get better? I submit that it cannot.

Yea yea yea I know how many NCAAs has Tech gone to blah blah blah. Still would rather Mike White and (so far) Konkol. Based on what I have seen from NSU, McConathy would have Richard like results at Tech.

Disagree. Opie is a good coach.

I think McConathy would of had us back to where we are now long ago if he would of been chosen over Woolridge and Rupp - basically had the job over Rupp until Karl stepped in...

Would have been nice for our program, but sadly it didn't happen and that ship has sailed. There are very few finer men around though.

    Yep -

And I think that BASKETBALL has the strongest foundation of any of our sports on campus solely due to the leadership of White and now Konkol - who both have similar traits with McConathy -

Rupp was just a very BAD hire from the get go

But you do have to give Rupp credit for getting us out of the APR mess that Keith Richard left us in. IIRC Keith Richard cost Rupp 2 scholarships for Rupp's 1st 2 seasons and 1 scholarship his last 2 seasons. Then there was reduced practice time and maybe more. Our local media conveniently ignore this because it doesn't fit their script. Yes, Rupp was a bad fit, but he inherited Richard's APR mess and got us our scholarships back for Coach White.

    Very true...

He was just a fish out of water here - brought in some good assistants but he had the personality of a turnip and that doesn't work when you don't win ballgames

Keep beating that drum, but McConathy showed no class issuing a press release to the media trying to bully or shame Tech into scheduling NWST. That's stooping to the JUCO's level.

My unofficial count has Alex at 1963 after ODU game.

I'd like to see him break 2000 if we can get a couple of more games

It's funny how Keith Richard inherited the "death penalty" at ULM according to some and is praised for digging them out of it. Yet he left Tech (Rupp) in the exact same situation that he inherited at the JUCO. That's karma. But nobody says Rupp inherited the "death penalty" from Richard.
