University of Houston '01. Any references to "we" or "us" likely refer to UH. Cheers!
At this point I think, after Tulsa, it's (unfortunately) UMass and then Southern Miss (if they can afford it). I could see LaTech after that. I think Old Dominion and Rice are more likely than UAB or Mashall. Some of this may depend on how the divisions would shake out.
Those three stick around for as long as they don't have a better opportunity and not a minute more. I'm not sure if that'll come for USF. Probably, though not necessarily, will for the other two.

America 12 is a stupid name. Sounds like a space shuttle.
In this day and age, any conference with a number in its name is soon to be outdated....
McMurphy pointed out that at the moment the Pac-12 is the only honest numbered conference of any significance.
Actually, since we'll only have ten this year, this may be the first wrongly numbered conference out of the gate (though it'll be right by 2015).
Maybe... :icon_wink:
Here is one thing I see that may be a problem. Few will call it the America 12 conference. It is going to get shortened to the A-12. There is going to be a certain amount of confusion between the A-12 and the A-10, especially during basketball season. Not a huge issue, but something I would try to avoid just coming out of the gate and getting the branding established.
to ease the confusion i suggest shortening the name down from 'Murrica-12 down to 'M-12 instead of A-12.
I think the nature of the TV contract guarantees or at least strongly indicates 12. Even if #12 is Akron.
I completely agree on A10 vs. A12 and was saying just that at the Cougars Den earlier today.
Metro 12 would've been a better name
I agree. America 12 would be a mistake.
In the current and future uncertain climate of college athletics, it's probably not a smart decision for a new conference to include a number in their name.
We already have the A-10, A-Sun, America East, C-USA, Pac-12, and Big 12. America 12 (A-12) is too similar to those.
IMO reviving the Metro Conference is the best way to go.
Who are the former Catholic 7/Our Lady of Perpetual Round Ball/new Big East going to add?
