That is unusual. Can't imagine Natchitoches Parish giving a dime to NSU. If anything, it's the other way around. Does Lincoln Parish subsidize Tech?

So.....how much money did CP give LSUS? Where did the money come from (which fund(s))? And how did LSUS use it? I'm curious about this.

The Animation and Visual Effects program at LSU Shreveport has received $500,000 from the Caddo Parish Commission to offer a new Digital Media Certificate Program. The certificate will be a non-degree, workforce training program. The program will prepare students for careers in digital media fields including animation, visual effects, interactive gaming and visualization for medical and military applications.

That is a bad habit for local governments to get into.

There is no doubt that Shreveport-Bossier knows they need a good university to bolster the local economy, but throwing good money after bad won't fix the problem.

I have still not seen anything in the local paper or on TV to verify the subject of this thread. Not saying it won't happen, just saying it is being kept quiet.

Caddo Parish residents who qualify and successfully complete the vetting module will be eligible for tuition-based scholarships provided by the Caddo Parish Commission.

Looks like it was more a case of CP providing scholarship money, and it was LSUS that hosted the program. I'm sure (no, I'm NOT sure, just assuming..) LSUS derives some fees from this program that otherwise would not have been possible. So, yeah, indirectly, CP has made it possible for LSUS to make some money. But, it doesn't appear to be a case of CP simply handing over $500K to LSUS, with a "hope ya spend it well."
