You make most of your own luck in sports. And I wouldn't call it "bad luck" when Simoneaux got caught completely unprepared to take Dudley out of the game when he didn't have it. No excuse to keep a reliever in to allow 10 hits. Today's loss was just the latest example of Simoneaux's failed coaching tenure whose end is long overdue.

I presume you mean Petersen? Gilley started and got the L Saturday.

I meant Dudley since Petersen started and was replaced by Dudley with two out in the 3rd. Dudley ended the SJ threat in the 3rd, was staked to a 6-2 lead in the 4th, blew it by allowing 6 in the bottom of the 4th, but was still around to allow another run in the 5th. If Simoneaux knew baseball Dudley would not have survived the 4th...eight straight batters reached (7 hits and a walk) after two out (the leadoff man singled but was doubled up on a liner to Ervine). Guess those eight batters reaching were eight straight cases of bad luck after the bad luck with the leadoff man and the good luck doubling him off on the lineout.
