My sentiments exactly. 14 teams is already too many. CUSA was foolish to expand past 12. I don't understand the rush to water down the conference.

I like the numbers!! I think there are enough anti Espn fans out there to give both a legitimate try. They will have decent football and basketball. Development of original programing is needed and I hope they utilize their NFL connections too! Things are looking a lot sunnier than two years ago when we were stuck in the WAC!

Subtract MTSU and either one of the F@Us and we would be perfect.

Asked if UL’s masterplan reveal makes it a more attractive candidate, Farmer answered in the affirmative. The first of three masterplan tiers – adding 5,900 end-zone seats to Cajun Field and constructing an athletic-training/football office facility – could begin this summer if it’s granted UL system state-board approval later this month.

“I think it shows a vision and a commitment by the university,” Farmer said. “So I think it’s going to make us significantly more viable. And if we can start the first tier of projects, it will add even more credibility.”
This is bothersome. Just another indication that ULL will pass us by if Van deVelde doesn't get that South End zone project COMPLETED soon. Other schools are not standing still.

    The Historian,

That theory makes sense. Other than the creation of a full-time C-USA TV network (which won't happen), the Fox theory is the only other theory that would support a 16-team C-USA. Reduced travel expenses would not make up for the reduction in distribution without a significant increase in revenue.

One thing though, the Belch's TV contract with ESPN lasts through June 30, 2020. Because the Belch loses money by producing its own games for the Sun Belt Network, expected Belch TV revenues per school are in the $35,000 to $50,000 range.

For comparison, C-USA TV revenues will be about $1.2 million per school until a new deal is renegotiated.

C-USA commish Britton Banowsky said ACC's grant of rights lessens the immediate need for his league to expand to 16 teams.

It's now obvious that the possible need to get to 16 was about television. But it wasn't about amount of content. It was actually about being able to provide a lineup for the next deal.

The problem now for schools like Arkansas State, Georgia State, USA, Texas State, and UL-Lafayette is that if there are no more moves before July 1, then nothing will happen before 2015. At that point, Charlotte will be a part of the league. Even if CUSA loses two schools after July 1, it won't have to expand. And Banowsky will be able to provide his membership list to his TV partner.

Too bad it wasn't in time to keep us at 12.

Maybe I'm seeing this wrong, but it looks like there could still be a two team shift up to the ACC from AAC from C-USA.

I know that Cincy and UConn still think that they are going to the ACC, at least some of the Cincy alumni do.

If I get to pick the teams, I'm ok with that.

That is unlikely to happen for a while.

i think you are seeing it wrong. the only expansion for the ACC will involve bringing in ND as a full member + UConn or Cincy.

do you think that will happen in the next 20 years?

    neither do i.
