Are there enough activities on campus that an out of state student would have things to do?

Don't know about now, but I was from Maryland and never really left campus. Always had a good time. Life is what you make it.
Yes and Monroe isn't that far away for a roadtrip!
Badgerman -- many Tech students live within an hour or so of campus. A significant portion of these students head home each weekend to wash their laundry, eat their momma's cookin, and hang out with their loser friends from high school.
The community of students that remains, however, enjoy a quiet campus, short lines, and plentiful parking. Moreover, they form friendships that will last well beyond their college years. (Some even get married, make some beautiful children, and live happily ever after.)

For the most part, there are always people around and something to do on the weekends. The only dead periods i recall are during the summer, but I imagine you would be going back home during that time.
The weekends feel dead...until you take a summer class! About half-way through my freshman year all my friends started staying on the weekends...that's when it really got good. There is more to do I. Ruston now than there was during my time there (2000-2005), but we never lacked for something to do.
