Thumbs Up "No news of C-USA expansion is a good thing"

The Huntington Herald-Dispatch: No news of C-USA expansion is a good thing

    What wasn't said.

Namely, no talk about expanding the league back to 16 teams after East Carolina, Tulsa and Tulane leave in 2014.

Oh, sure, commissioner Britton Banowsky mentioned the "16-team model" for about the bajillionth time. But did the C-USA athletic directors say a word about future expansion during their meetings?

"It wasn't discussed a single time," said Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick.

    Thank goodness.

    or Huntington?

Good thing we got into C-USA when we did. The small market thing will always be a hurdle.

C-USA is selling us as the Shreveport market (which is larger than the Baton Rouge DMA) with no mention of Ruston or Monroe markets. You'll see it again when the C-USA football media guide is released this summer.

See C-USA's updated website for our market info. (Try to ignore the branding disaster that our athletic department has now pushed onto C-USA.)

Did You Know? Ruston is home to the Annual Squire Creek Peach Festival, which has been a Ruston tradition since 1951.

Every mention on C-USA's website and in C-USA publications uses El Ay Tech. There's not even a single "Louisiana Tech" that I can find. Our athletic department has told C-USA to refer to us as "LA Tech" in all references except for the stat systems that only allow 4 character names (in that case TECH). It's seems like our admin is attempting a brand destruction experiment.

Continuing. Not attempting. I will be emailing Dr. Guice about this general situation on July 1st. Even though I think La. Tech is a far more powerful brand, LA Tech wouldn't hurt as bad IF WE JUST PICKED ONE OR THE OTHER.

LaTech says LahTech which is what we were sold as a brand saying.

No to LA Tech or La. Tech when printed. No postal code or abbreviations needed.

Several of us have been telling you the same thing for months. Now you act shocked. You're just hard headed. Take a deep breath and ACCEPT IT!!
