Are we just going to continue on and on and on with what we have? Any chance we'll make changes so that this great baseball I'm watching at regionals across the country might include Louisiana Tech?

Sim's buyout will be cut in half on July 1. At this point, there's no sense in firing Sim before then.
Finding a new head baseball coach should be one of the first things Guice does when he takes over.
Looks like its tied to the fiscal year.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?
We need to take a look at the UCA coach. They had a great year and just lost in the regional finals at Miss. State. They actually won three games at Miss. State this year. They also beat Ok. State. He coached at Southern Arkansas for 5 years before coming to UCA. http://ucasports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=161&path=baseball

Amazing how Wichita State is prepared to fire the 2nd winningest active (also all-time) coach with a year left on his contract after an MVC championship 39-win season and a regional appearance while Tech does nothing. And using the July 1 changes as the reason for not already having pulled the trigger is a completely bogus excuse.

Wichita State did fire Gene Stephenson today. This man took the WSU program from nothing to seven CWSs, numerous Super Regionals, etc. Did tremendous fundraising resulting in some of the best baseball facilities in the country. Says he would like to continue coaching and hopes someone will be interested.

Wow, Stephenson is a legend. I would love to have him for 3-4 years to right the ship and then get his help on a successor.
Why did WSU fire him?
Basically, WSU has very high exectations for success in their sports programs. Baseball, while still very good, has shown a decline in the past five years from past glory. The school felt it needed some new blood. His firing is a very controversial decision, and I would hate to follow in his footsteps. I would also like to see us get him for a few years to set some higher standards and establish an expectation of winning. He has been making $531,00 a year at WSU.
No. WSU was in the same regional as K State. It's not that K State is doing well, it's more that WSU isn't doing as well as they have done in the past. There is a feeling that the program was getting stale.
