Damn BD13. I was having a pretty good day until you brought those up. That Ark game is still the worst officiated game I have ever seen in my life. But remember, they didn't make it illegal to break the huddle with 12 men until the year after Auburn used that to beat us. Both of those games still make me feel like I've got a rock in my gut.

Part of that is also what happened to Baylor in the late 90s and first decade of 2000s. Baylor really had been a good program at the time. That Baylor team beat Texas and won the Sun Bowl that year, for instance. Baylor's decline started around '95.

The big difference is that we're winning those games a lot more often (of course, we aren't playing with a 15 scholarship disadvantage any longer either). That '91 team was something of the doppleganger for this past year's team. Top flight defense, couldn't score. Just a decent offense and that team would have beaten Ole Miss, S. Miss and S. Carolina--and might have even beaten Bama (we really came closer than anyone but Florida to beating that national title team).

Bama's only touchdown was on a punt return late in the game as I remember. Also, I think it had been raining all day. Not an excuse, just a bit of trivia.

Palmer and then another year Alexander made some big plays for the Tide. Palmer had been suspended for the games before ours and just was cleared to play against us when he ran that one back it seems.

Way up there but not quite that high. Buffalo is the flagship of the State University of New York System. A local businessman and gubernatorial candidate (Tom Golisano) has offered millions for the school to be renamed New York State University. Coach White's brother is their current AD, and he's aggressively trying a re-branding initiative as the "New York Bulls." Don't be surprised if Rice and Buffalo are the next targets of The American if they ever decide to expand.

Yep, and George Teague made a diving tackle on a long pass that prevented us from going up 7-6 (in which case we'd not have been punting anywhere near the middle of the field). Teague tackled our receiver on something like the 2 yard line and we couldn't score on four downs. If we had, we might have won the game 7-6 the way our defense played that day.
