    Furlough Day

Well, it has finally arrived for DoD workers. Sitting at home today and every Friday for the next 10 weeks. Rumor has it that the budget cuts for FY14 will be larger. No word yet on the furlough situation for the next FY.

It did not have to happen this way....

You should have been a socialist/communist if you wanted to stop sequester cuts. Should tell all your friends to be it too. The country will be so much better when everyone just did what they said and embraced utopia. They promise not to make the same mistakes. They know what and why everything went wrong. They know how to make it all better. Go ahead, join them. Get your friends involved. And if any are stubborn enough to not do it, be sure to let your local homeland security department know about their subversiveness.

Sorry you are having to do the furlough. We haven't had any raise at all for the past 2 years (we only get pay for performance, no steps), but we are not being furloughed. Everyone could get paid if they would change the obama vacation money over to salary expense for govt. workers. This is all crazy!

Not happy, but unless I decide to swap employers (and I am not), nothing I can do about it. I hear you about no raises for the past couple of years, same here. We were supposed to get a .5% COLA this year, but I never heard whether they were going to implement it or not. If they did, I never saw it. :bigcry:

I have pretty much lost faith in the government to do the right thing. Unfortunately, DC is filled with carpetbaggers, opportunists, and nitwits on both sides of the isle who are only there for the $$$/power. I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that Congress and their staffs are not under the furlough rules. It figures....

I don't believe anyone got the .5 COLA- if they had our raise would have kicked in. You are correct there is no furlough for Congress or their staffs. They are "essential" I guess.

    Re: Furlough Day

    Thanks Tyler!

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, that is just the way it is. Thankfully, God has given us provision for this time, so we will be OK.

My complaint about the whole situation is that it was not necessary, and could have been dealt with in a different manner and no one would have been furloughed. Congress, both sides, decided to play politics and made it this way. So I put all of the blame on their plate. Other than that, I just wished they had made it one furlough day per pay period. That would have made the financial hit much more bearable.
