    Hotels near Cotton Bowl

Anyone find any good deals online? Most of the ones I see online are rather pricey.

From what I've been told, the best thing to do is get a hotel NOT near the Cotton Bowl, but one near a DART line. I'm staying in Frisco and gonna take the DART from Plano. It's free and there is security there for your parked vehicle. The area around the Cotton Bowl is supposedly awful.

That sounds like a half decent idea. Don't have to pay for parking at the Bowl and dont have to drive and wait in traffic. Plus hotels are much cheaper outside Dallas proper.

    Anyone else have recommendations?

Get a hotel near a DART station. It doesn't have to be right on the line, just within about 5-15 minutes of one. It is not free, but it is cheap compared to parking fees at Fair Park.

Also their will be 100 tow trucks at the Fair Grounds waiting on you to park in a non parking area. Oh and its $300 to get your car back.

Agree with above posted. Hotel near dart line and take the train. It will drop you off literally at the front gate of the fair grounds. And just be clear, it is NOT free. Couple bucks for a day pass. You don't really want to stay right close to the fair grounds. Not the best part of town.

Found a decent price for a Hilton Doubletree on Market Center that's right on the green line. Might go for that.

You don't have to pay to switch lines or anything like that right? It's just a flat $10 fee for the whole day?

Near the outlet mall and only 30 minutes from state fair.

Correct about not paying to switch lines, but I do not know what the whole day fee is now. Whatever it is, it is a great bargain! Be prepared for crowds, though. Go early and enjoy the State Fair and the NEW Big Tex!

DART website says a day pass is $5

There's no outlet in America that would entice the wife to stay at that place. ha ha. She's quite picky when it comes to where she lays her head.

No transfer fees. The times I took DART to work, it was about $4 -$5 for a round trip on the train. $10 seems high.

There are some "high end" motels in Terrell. I did laugh when I saw the pic. Not a great marketing person in charge there.
