Gave away 20 points.
Two missed chip shot field goals.
Two fumbles inside the 5 yard line.
KU breaks their 23 game FBS losing streak.
At least we still have FIU on our schedule!

This game pretty sums up La Tech football over the last 25 years. So close...YET so far!
Proud of the effort from our team. Missed field goals & fumbles by an inexperienced kicker, first time starter QB, and a BEAST of a running back that was just trying to get into the end zone. Hard to swallow but I saw much improvement and flashes of what could be if we continue to improve. Higgins must have been reincarnated since last week - he was way better.
Still should have won by 2-3 scores BUT turnovers kill.
One example of poor planning and a lack of preparation: Our new coach gave away 2 scholarships, even before he met his existing players, to Logan McPherson (K,P) and Kyle Fisher (K). McPherson wasted no time proving he wasn't ready by putting his/our first kickoff of the season in Raleigh out of bounds and averaging 36 yards per punt, then horrible punting again in the Lamar game and then 2 more duds in the Tulane game. then finally CSH let the punter WE ALREADY HAD, a walk-on from last year (Shouse), come in and show us some great punting, like we saw in every practice LAST YEAR! Then today, apparently just to stubbornly prove he was not wrong, CSH started McPherson again. Shame on you for sticking it to the Tech Nation and to OUR PUNTER.
We did GIVE the game away today. I just think we actually looked better than we have all year. Yes, Kansas is a terrible team, but we played Lamar and Tulane and we made Tulane look awesome. Today, we handed it to them on a platter, but the O-line played better, the defense played good, we had really exciting moments and we had a lot fewer 3 and outs. I think we can win a couple and last week I would have not had any hope.
I thought the D played very well
Here are McPherson's punts today:
1. 36 yards to the Kansas 31 (no return)
2. 36 yards to the Kansas 6 (no return; out of bounds)
3. 44 yards to the Kansas 9 (no return; out of bounds)
4. 46 yards to the Kansas 3 (no return)
5. 37 yards to the Kansas 5 (no return)
6. 39 yards to the Kansas 35 (no return)
