James Madison University may or may not be on the verge of announcing that it will move up to the Football Bowl Subdivision, but if it happens, it appears the Dukes won’t be joining Conference USA.

Messages boards for JMU, Old Dominion and several conference Web sites lit up with reports on Thursday that the school will announce on Friday, Oct. 5, that it is joining Conference USA.

That’s news to C-USA officials, especially the athletic directors who met on Tuesday in suburban Dallas, Texas and did not discuss expansion.

Expansion discussion has revolved largely around JMU and Arkansas State.

Of the two, I pick JMU. Not because I live in VA either. Very good program with great fans. Has a lot of potential and growth possibilities.

Take Arkansas state and James Madison. That is the belts most stable program and their top target in jmu. I don't really want ark st, but it buys us a few more years of keeping ull in the belt.

JMU's existing athletic budget is $33 million (80% provided by student fees) and they are proposing to move it up to $53 million (70% provided by student fees). Wow.

Well.....JMU (5-3, 2-2 in the CAA) lost to William & Mary yesterday, 17-7, and is currently in 7th place in the 11-team CAA. If they move to CUSA, maybe LA Tech can beat them.
