I think Higgins could be very good if we had an aggressive HC (yes I've come around since the Tulane debut) - if we start throwing the ball in the first half last week at Army he goes for 400+ yds and maybe pushes 500...

Stats of note:
1. UTEP's defensive line has a combined 0.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in 4 games. This against the powerhouses of New Mexico, UTSA (no disrespect here, they're looking more decent every week), NMSU, and Colorado St. If ever there was a game for our OL to get their shit together, this looks like it.
2. They give up a lot of points (38.5 PPG against). Doesn't mean much right now, seeing as we can't score on ourselves, much less another team. But, if they give up their season average of about 230 YPG on the ground, and we don't put the ball on the ground, Dixon/King could have a nice day at the office.
3. The glaring stat to me, and what's keeping me from saying definitively that Tech wins this game, is time of possession. We are getting KILLED in this area, yet again. UTEP isn't. Tech has 13 turnovers in 4 games, as well as a 36% 3rd down conversion rate. UTEP has 4 TOs in 4 games, and is keeping the ball for an average of 33 minutes per game, and is converting 3rd downs at a 50% clip.
My takeaway: If Tech holds on to the ball, gets the running game going (looking at you, OL), and actually finishes a few drives, I don't see why we don't win by 2 scores. However, until I see it happen, I predict more of the same, but the good guys finally find a way to win one this week. Higher scoring affair than most will think.

Nope. That is what this board will look like once the game starts. Teddy did actually make a pretty funny comment before the Tulane game, said when Dave left the Lamar game sick he felt like Tom Hanks climbing into the lunar module in Apollo 13: "can't go to the moon boys." I lol'ed
I would be surprised if UTEP doesn't stack the box and make us pass to beat them. We haven't really shown that we have a deep threat. It's going to be on the OL to handle that, and we are again going to have to make some plays with 1 on 1 coverage. If we ever show them we can do that, it will open up the offense for the rest of the season. We did much better against Army, I hope they have some confidence now.
With UTEP's run defense, three handoffs up the middle to Dixon may end up in a TD.
Or with our OL and predictable play calling, it could be a three-and-out....
With Tulane's...no wait. With Kansas'...ok one more try, with Army's run defense...hm not working. What should we try coach? "Run up the middle."
Only on BBB do we start bitching a full WEEK before the game actually starts.
