Fun night Thursday night at Louisiana Tech's Basketball Madness. Raheem Appleby went throwback in the dunk contest. Appleby wore a uniform from 1971-72 Bulldog team which averaged 101.1 per game and more than 100 for 18 of their games . . . with no 3-point line or dunking. This team is considered Scotty Robertson's best team. Having the event in the Scotty Robertson Memorial Gym only made sense for Tech's star shooter to wear the uni. The Thomas Assembly Center floor is shut down for now while a new video board is installed for the season opener.
I found the old uniform and warm-up top in a closet at the house yesterday and offered it to Raheem to wear Thursday night. Prior to his final dunk, Raheem stripped off his 2013 practice shorts to reveal the 1971 game pants! 'Spoon's reaction was beautiful. . . and it amped up the energy for that last winner dunk.
The unis were declared illegal the next year by the NCAA due to the blue circle being too big on the front of the white jersey.

They should bring back those warm-up tops, and figure out a way to have an alt that gives a nod to those awesome 71-72 unis!
It seems like this needs to be a new tradition to have this event in memorial gym every year! Crowd looked great and so did the dunks!

UTEP's new unis are awful. Like the red T on our helmets, you can't read what's on UTEP's jerseys from a distance.

New unis for Southern Miss...
UTEP's uniforms are awesome, Dawg06. You just love having a point of view and making sure everyone is aware of it.
Or I'm trying to drum up some interest on the MBB forum...
Southern Miss's looks nice and clean, sides are Marylandish though.
Looks better on Maryland tho.
