Last time I went to a game there (2005ish) you went through two metal detectors to get into the gym.
Although I usually try to be politically correct, I do not jeopardize the safety of my family. I understand that you are still a student, and I generally agree with things that you post. Perhaps one day when you have a family, you will see it from my point of view.
As for Jackson State being a HBCU, I would ask the same question if we were considering going to Memphis to watch a game. Both of the Universities are in cities with high crime rates. The same thing gets brought up every time we talk about a game at Independence Stadium. The safety of our families are a father's first concern.
We have decided to leave our daughter with the grandparents for this one. We will be able to do a little Christmas shopping on the way there in Vicksburg.
On to the game!
I have been to games at Jackson State, Southern, and Grambling (2 of those were not even against Tech, but against other HBCU's. I never felt unsafe at any of those games. In fact, I was welcomed. One of the most fun (non-Tech) games that I have been to was a Bayou Classic between Southern and Grambling. Me and my "then" 8 year old son had a blast!
Racism aside....
This is a "big" game for the Dawgs. Jackson State is good enough to beat us, but they will never get any credit for being "good." Rather, a loss will cast Tech has a mere pretender.
Sorry, but that's just the way it is. So, the Dawgs have to take care of business and get it done. Period.
Does anyone know Anderson's status for tonight? I assume Appleby will play since he came back in last game.
Anderson and Appleby both playing today.
Injury list appears to be confined to the broadcast crew.
If anyone can update score and vibe every now and then. Please do.
I can't get a gamecast, audio, or video.
Poor start. 5 fouls already on TECH. None on JSU...
9 up with about 12:00 to play in the first half
