For the first time in my life, I can safely say I'm suffering from penis envy at the hands of ULaLa and the Green Wave.

I don't enevy any team's success at this time of the year. We're in a big mess by our own doing...not the fans - but by our administration. This board has named numerous ways to improve that were actually quite well thought out. I'm not talking about those few sour grapes that have no corrective critisim. We have all seen this roller coaster ride from the great game with Maryland in the I-Bowl with all that excitement of which souvenirs sales was over the the top...so what we do after the game - the administration went back into their cave and the moment was not seized...(one example of many I've experienced over the years) Think small and we stay small...we'll never get as big as some of the top tear SEC schools, but we can match some on them.
Those that have the $$$ strings will determine what we have and all the excuses we hear today (some are valid while most are a cop out) for the lack of either knowledge or to keep La. Tech growing at at their pace...Just got a call from the school today confirming my support. I said I wanted the best for my school, but they were headed in the wrong direction. In our glory years we had a stable of great coaches that were in plce for years - thus the results. Then the fans clapped when we got touchdowns then and a few yea's could be heard from time to time. All I'm saying La. Tech "guru's"have to understand what it wants to do. You keep training new coaches every 3-4 years, they get paid pretty darned good now and they expect the fans to suck it up and be faithful every time there's a change. It's funny the coaches they hire have the opposite loyalty...Look at how hard it was getting into C-USA and now that we're here lets sit back, relax and reap the rewards ! OK - that's my 2 cents !
ULL cares about athletics. Tech doesn't
They have a President and an AD who get it. They are motivating a fan base and giving them reason to root for the home team over LSU.
They are breaking ground on the master plan in February and we are still hoping for a SEZ.
They pay Hudspeth 800,000. We hired on a budget and got a retread.
BTW for something truly depressing check out the coaching salaries and see where we stack up compared to the other C-USA schools.
I'm sure I will be crucified for saying this, but I believe the "Athletic Council" (whomever they may be) should demand an immediate firing of Holtz, pay the remainder of that poor decision out & then allow the university (athletic Director, Prez & alumni boosters) to come up with the $$$ to pay the next head coach. This is not only doable but will ultimately keep the current boosters from fading away & may encourage some new ones to come on board.
Anybody that cares anything about LA Tech is so used to the "Ruston Process" that they will not get involved to help & may not renew season tix or support. That has been the LTU way forever. It is time to make a change!
And for the record, I was initially on board with giving Holtz the benefit of the doubt for a year or two. I saw nothing this year that gave me any hope for advancement in the football program. I am sorry to say that I actually bypassed the last four games(home & away) to do other things on those Saturdays.
Yep. I think ULL's president may have just recently woken up, but ULL's AD is still a clueless clown. ULL's admin was asleep at the wheel and missed the boat so they drew up some grandiose plans that they will never be able to pay for to temporarily get their fans off their backs. No matter how hard ULL tries to disguise themselves as something they are not, everybody else sees the hoax that they really are. And they just made a really poor decision to turn down the Indy Bowl vs. the ACC on NYE to play in the pre-Christmas NO Bowl for the third straight year vs. non-AQ. It's like they are still in high school trying to make it to the Dome every year to win a high school state championship. The SCLSU Muddawgs win the Bourbon Bowl! They just don't get it.

Agreed. After two appearances and wins, the smart decision should be to accept a bowl game against a more prestigious opponent. The decision is even easier to make since the bowl game is in driving distance for the fan base. Their fans must be tired of the New Orleans Bowl. This was definitely not a smart decision by their administration.
From the 2013-14 University Catalog:
ATHLETICS COUNCIL. Purpose: Reviews intercollegiate athletic programs and activities and makes recommendations to the President for his consideration. Athletics Council members are appointed by the President. Members: James Liberatos (Chair), Lisa Cole, Steve Davison, Sean Dwyer, Marvin Green, , Guthrie Jarrell, Terry McConathy, Sam Speed, Donna Thomas, SGA representative, Mary Kay Hungate (non-voting), and Bruce Van De Velde (non-voting).
Yep, especially since Hudspeth has never beaten an AQ conference opponent. Also, the Indy Bowl with the ACC on NYE will have a much bigger TV viewership than the pre-Christmas NO Bowl, and ULL forfeited the opportunity to get exposure in a Louisiana metro area that has no clue who they are. ULL can't see past the party.
And you are surprised by that? Everybody knows that all they care about down there. They'd have a player's riot on their hands if they chose to go to Shreveport for a week over New Orleans. They'll be drunk til Friday, wake up Saturday, and play the game like always. Just another day on the gridiron at ULL.
Yep, the Cajuns like Bourbon Street. There is no doubt they will carry many more fans to New Orleans than they would have taken to Shreveport. They gave up a chance to play an ACC team in a bowl, though.
