Yeah......we wouldn't want to take a risk or anything. Afterall, it's much more comfortable being a loser program that people laugh at (like they did at Rice.)

Remember......there are obvious perks to being a member of the LA Tech Losers Club. Let's quickly review the advantages:

    1) First, it's Cheaper!! Fans can save money on LTAC donations because nobody wants to "give" to a program that's losing and has no future.

    2) It's Cheaper X2! No need to buy season tickets to get good seats. Just wait until game day and viola!....you get the best seat in the house. Want chair back seats? They're YOURS, free of charge. :icon_wink:

    3) Parking at JAS is much easier on game day when your program is losing.

    4) The concession stand lines are much shorter. No more long waits to get that Pepsi for the wife and kids. The best part? your school will never run out of inventory. :icon_wink:

    5) It's Cheaper X3. No worrying about the travel costs associated with attending a bowl game. And you don't have to feel guilty, because your team will be watching the bowl games on TV, just like you!!

    6) No more sweating the "coaching stuff" Just hire a cheap one, and be done with it.

HILARIOUS POST, great job!! Clever, funny, makes an excellent point on the results of continued losing. Nicely done. A+ stuff.

We really need Eddie Johnson to be good... not sure what's going on there. And then our OL HAS to improve in pass protection (and run-blocking).
Henderson and DeCoutte are basically the same player. DeCoutte was an upgrade over Banks and Casey and we rarely used him. So why would you expect them to use Henderson? Griffin was a transfer that we rarely used, so why is it a guarantee that Turner is going to light everything up? And what can our WRs do when Holtz only has them run 5 yard routes? And will we actually have a WR run past the 1st down marker on 3rd down?

I forgot about Decloutte. He should be better next year as well with the experience he got this year (if he can stay healthy). I saw our receivers running longer routes than 5 yards. Our QBs need to get better at finding open receivers downfield and making the throws. And our OL has to give our QBs more time to find those receivers. And our receivers need to do a better job of separating from the defenders to get open. Our problems are not just coaching.... wish it was.

Ok Cliff you asked and since I'm assuming run Skip isn't a choice here goes my suggestions -

All involve mandates or directives to the SH -

    1) Release the shackles on your OC - the game plan is totally his sink or swim and put him back in the press box

    2) Move Tim Rattay to QB coach - he is responsible for the development of QBs and he signals plays in from the OC and talks to the QB during timeouts with direct input from Peterson

    3) You mandate the return of OPEN practices - period, end of discussion and if you don't it falls under just cause

    4) Bring in a WR coach with experience

    5) chicken dinner circuit is open for business - the best thing he does is talk and entertain - put SH on the road for one engagement a month - twelve months a year - if he doesn't agree it falls under just cause

    6) You are limited to 4 jucos and they all have to be graduates and spring enrollees - no wiggle room

    That's where I would start

I think it's going to take a couple of years to fix the O because this is largely a personnel problem.

The defense is a different story, imo. We had a veteran line, good play from the DBs, and the 2 new LBs were talented (Cobb and Villemez). There was some talent over there and it didn't look like it at all. I put a lot of our defensive play on the coaches. They game-planned to keep Army from beating us with the pass?! Are you kidding me? I don't know that we need better players on this side. Maybe another year in the system will help?
I agree with just about all of this. People are too quick to blame directly to the coaches when I'm seeing a lot of problems from the players as well. We have no leaders (can't be coached) which is a huge problem and we have no playmakers, besides Dixon. Our o-line and QBs are the biggest needs of improvement that we're going to have to have next season. Like most people are saying, I believe our receivers will be better than year but Rattay really needs to go over fundamentals with them again. WAY too many dropped passes this year. Our current QBs are so flat footed and don't look off a receiver so that can be vastly improved. O-line is the biggest must, poor blocking leads to us throwing these screens/short passes which go nowhere and the only way we ran was when our rbs (mainly Dixon) was turning nothing into something. Hopefully recruiting and a few (please don't go overboard) jucos can fix these problems

    Hire this guy - http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/sec/2013/10/24/auburn-football-revives-offense-under-guz-malzahn-rhett-lashlee/3177785/

    http://www.auburntigers.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/rhett_lashlee_710543.html

Rhett Lashlee knows the Gus Malzahn offense better than anyone. This uptempo offense focuses on running rather than passing (which will help the defense). Lashlee is from nearby Arkansas so he knows the recruiting territory. He's only 30 years old - the AD should like that. Perfect fit for Tech.

Re: How would YOU fix our broken football team?

I tell you what I wouldn't do. I wouldn't drastically deviate from the system the current players have been recruited to. A successful coach recruited them for a reason. It is true that our talent is down. I think that is exacerbated by the fact that we insist on running an up-tempo offense in a ball-control manner…we end up with the worst of both worlds.

Let Peterson run WIDE open this year. If he's successful, we'll win games. If he's not, let him go.

Put skip in charge of excavating the hill for SEZ. Give him a shovel and let him go. Play his "guess what day it is" video on video board repeat. When he's done, make him admit that we are Daddy and fire him for just cause after his delayed response.

Make Tim associate head coach (Head Coach in Waiting) and let him at least be the QB coach if not OC.
