Bus trip to Hattiesburg (Jan 19)

Found this on the alumni site. Pretty good deal for those of you all living in north Louisiana and south Arkansas. $45 for bus and game ticket to Hattiesburg.

Route: Shreveport/Bossier 6am > Ruston 7:15am > Monroe 8am > Hattiesburg

Come travel with the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association to Hattiesburg, Miss., as the Bulldogs take on Southern Miss on Sunday, January 19. Game time is noon.

A charter bus will leave the Bossier Civic Center at 5:45 a.m. and will pick up Tech fans in Ruston at the Argent Pavilion at 6:50 a.m. and the Monroe Civic Center at 7:20 a.m.

The cost for the trip is $45 and includes round trip transportation and your game ticket. Seats are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis. The deadline to reserve your seat on the bus is Friday, January 15.

For those already in Hattiesburg or those providing their own transportation, individual game tickets are available for $12.

In March 2013, several diehard MBB fans were sitting in the Las Vegas airport Monday morning waiting on our flight to Shreveport. We were discussing how to get to the NIT game vs. Florida State in Tallahassee on Tuesday night. We called people in the Alumni Association office and asked if there was a flight or bus trip planned to get fans to the game. There were nothing planned, so we checked into getting flights or chartering a flight.

Eventually 5 of us got together Tuesday morning and drove 9 hours to Tallahassee for the game, spent the night in Pensacola after the game, and returned to North Louisiana on Wednesday. We won the FSU game and ended up playing USM in the 2nd round of the NIT. Many more fans joined us in going to the USM game. Many Tech fans had a pre-game meal at a sports bar/restaurant in Hattiesburg.

If you want to see a different college venue and some outstanding C-USA basketball, you should make this trip to USM. Although I can't make this USM game, I have been to USM for two games in the past two seasons. I will have to listen to it on the radio.

The Alumni Association has provided this opportunity for an easy day trip. Notice that the deadline to reserve a seat is Friday, December 20th. If there is not a good response by then, this trip will probably not take place. I hope there is a good response to this offer so that I'll have the opportunity in the future.
