Thumbs Up Saints ranked #1 their backups grades

Got to love this stat!! And thst is after losing a bunch of starters before and after the season started.

Ranking teams by their backups grades, Saints #1

NFL - NFL Depth Chart Rankings - ESPN

    Saints:

Backups grade: 53.6 | Deepest position group: Halfback
Shallowest: Offensive line | Best non-starter: HB Darren Sproles (+30.2)

The Saints are full of quality offensive skill players, including Sproles, fullback Jed Collins (+16.5) and tight end Benjamin Watson (+15.7), making it so the offense could still be effective if an injury were to occur. On defense, they have serviceable veteran depth at defensive back in Chris Carr (+7.5), Rafael Bush (+4.9) and Isa Abdul-Quddus (+2.1). Due to their heavy rotation of players on both offense and defense, they are prepared for an injury to nearly any of their players.

The next best team is the seahawks with the backup grade of 40.1.

After that last second touchdown given up against the Panthers (and the one against the Patriots earlier in the year), they are obviously not a championship caliber team.

Both games they led in virtually all statistical categories, yet found a way to lose.

I thought Brees and Sproles had horrible games -

10 of their pts came off turnovers and 1/2 the sacks Brees took were on him holding the ball too long

Too much miss direction called by Peyton in that weather and wind
    ''Don't be a bad dagh..."

The Saints were just plain pitiful again. Peyton called and coached a terrible game and Brees was very Romo like. So disappointing. It would serve the Saints right to have to play Chicago at Chicago or Dallas at Dallas in the first round.
    Idiots!!!

Saints might miss the playoffs completely.

Exactly right about Brees and Peyton.

If Atlanta were to beat SF, the Saints are in. Regardless, they still control their own destiny--win and in. They have made it rather more interesting than they should have though.

If they get in, they'll get either Philly/Dallas or Green Bay/Chicago. Right now, playing Philly in Philly looks like the worst of those games. So Saints fans probably should be rooting for the Cowboys next week

Re: Saints ranked #1 their backups grades

The Saints have never gone 8-0 at home. Need to do that this year, or stay home for the playoffs. If they beat the Bucs (no sure thing, even at home) and the Dirty Birds beat the Dirty Cats, the Saints win the division and get the #2 seed and the 1st round bye.

Lose to the Bucs, and if the Cards beat the Niners, provided the Niners win tonite, at 10-6 the Saints are out of the playoffs.

How ironic that the Dirty Birds (the team Saints' fans hate the most) can help the Saints so much. But, given how stupid they are, I'm 99.9% certain the Birdies will lose both....and probably on purpose just to hurt the Saints.

As for rooting for the Cowgirls.....nope! Ain't happening here. Hope the Eagles smash 'em.

Wait....word is if the 'girls make the playoffs JJ is gonna keep that lousy coaching staff. Hmmmm..........

I only truly root for 3 teams: Rummel, Tech and the Saints. The rest is purely passing interest. I don't care how anyone else does, or doesn't do. However, I do like to tweak fans of certain teams....just for fun :icon_wink:.

Re: Saints ranked #1 their backups grades

Oh the irony. Now the truth comes out. SOME Saints fans detest Dallas so badly they'd rather play a TOUGH PHILLY TEAM in the snow, ice and cold of Philadelphia than possibly get our "girls" at home and the almost SURE win. I know y'all have to play in those icy places like Charlotte, Tampa and that super-cold GeorgiaDome (), but as a lifelong Dallas fan, Philly can be a dreadful place to play this time of year.

I wouldn't like the Saints chances on the road up there if the weather is bad.

Regardless, I do wish the Saints had finished 'em off yesterday. And I'm obviously glad WE are both still in it...for now.

I would much rather play Dallas indoors vs. Philly. Looks like it will be Philly now.
