    Independence Bowl Questions

Greetings! Arizona fan traveling to Shreveport for the bowl game on New Year's Eve Day. I would appreciate any suggestions you can provide. We'll be driving from Dallas on the 30th. Plan to see the parade/pep rally at the Boardwalk, and we'll be staying in that area. Looking for ideas on restaurants, area attractions, parking at the stadium and other such logistics, and particularly suggestions for New Year's Eve. One fly in the ointment is we're traveling with teenagers, so that apparently locks us out of the casino shows. Appreciate any and all ideas, so thanks in advance!

Thanks. I ordered one for the Blue lot. Looks like a little bit of a walk, but not too bad. Is it just that the parking's limited, or is there some other problem in the area around the stadium?

If I were from Arizona, on my first trip to Louisiana, I'd put Ralph and Kacoo's seafood restaurant (located in Bossier at Bossier Crossroads Center) on my list to visit while in town. The food's good, reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is nice and family-friendly. You can see the menu online at http://www.ralphandkacoos.com/

It's also close to the Louisiana Boardwalk, which has a couple of good places to eat as well.

As far as the I-Bowl area...unfortunately, it's not in the best area of town, and as Choudawg suggests, be sure to check your options for parking. If you can get close to the stadium...as in, ON SITE, you're probably okay...but I wouldn't recommend parking in the residential areas around the stadium. If you don't have an on-site parking permit, park at Pierre Bossier Mall or Mall St. Vincent and take the shuttle.

The area around the stadium is not the best to say the least. There are a couple of churches that charge $20 to park and have someone there to watch cars during the game. However, as stated, if you can park in the blue lot, that is fine.

For food, yeah, Ralph and Kacoos is good stuff. Copelands Cheescake Bistro in Boardwalk is good as well. Plenty of local watering and eating places that are great. All depends on what you have a taste for.

And Congrats to Arizona being in the I Bowl!! It is actually a really cool matchup of amazing running backs! Your players will love it and be treated very well.....which is after all what it is about.

So what's up with Nick Isham? You know he was only 15 when he started as Tech's QB. His momma is hot, but talks a lot.

Reminds me of the old joke about Legion Field in Birmingham...

Where is the best seat in Legion Field? The one where you can see your car.

I'm a food guy here in town and I'll throw my 2 cents in. If you're looking for homemade dips and such for tailgating I've heard of a pretty cool place called (I happen to own this one)...http://www.maxwellsmarket.com/ Awesome pizza and cool atmosphere: http://frankspizzanapoletana.com/the-place/ Real Italian in a laid back atmosphere: http://litalianorestaurant.webs.com/ Nicer steaks and such : http://www.2johnsrestaurant.com/ Mexican : http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/285/1701...y-Bossier-City or http://www.tacomaniacantina.com/

Four Winds in the Horseshoe Casino - I know it is Louisiana . . . but that is damn good Chinese.

Ralph & Kacoos - I know it is North Louisiana . . . but Ralph & Kacoo's is pretty solid Louisiana fare.

Strawn's Eat Shop - Awesome breakfast and great homemade pies.

Superior - Good place to get drinks and have a little Tex-Mex.

Chianti - My favorite Italian place for dates back in the day.

Margaritaville - For margaritas. Actually, they have pretty decent food too.

Marilynn's Place is a great spot for Louisiana inspired cuisine. Great poboys and other LA staples.

You must have Johnny's Pizza Sweep the Kitchen. Then you can say you've been to Louisiana. (Rotolo's has the choice of beers to go with your Italian.)
