This is when we'll find out what our team is made of. If we can beat USM on the road........LOOK OUT!!!
I want to beat Tulane first

Heard today game on foxsports 1.
USM lost to Tulsa 75-71 on the road. We may have our hands full with Tulsa too. The Golden Hurricane also beat Tulane by 16 points.
Tulsa is another team we won't get votes from after we kick that ass.
Where is everyone sitting for this one? I'm about to order my tickets.
Got mine through the alumni assoc -
It's a group
$12 each

Well here goes my crack research for the Southern Miss game:
Southern Miss has two good wins so far this year with a 1 point victory at North Dakota State (13-5/RPI 48) and a 7 point win at DePaul (10-8/RPI 89). Other than the blast by Louisville, hiccup at Tulsa the other night, and an early loss at Western Kentucky, they've won all the games they should have won. They have not won as convincingly as the Dawgs though.
When looking at Southern Miss, they don't necessarily stand out in any particular area. Statistically they are middle of the road in points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game. They are in the upper third of NCAA teams in field goal percentage, which is a bit of concern with how our team can be hot/cold from the field.
They have five players who average at least 9 points per game, and those guys also average at least 20 minutes a game. They seem to be quite balanced and have relatively good depth. Their best rebounder is Craig who is 6'5", but they have two 6'7" guys, Boardingham and Eason that should be a bit of a matchup for Kyser, Anderson, and Massey. Craig and Boardingham would be the best offensive options they have down low as well.
They do not shoot the ball well from the free throw line - 69% (pot meet kettle). This actually is a little skewed since they have one guy, Watson (11.7 ppg/their best player it seems), who shoots over 90% from the line. No one else on their team shoots higher than 73% from the line. This could be the difference in the game if it's close. Neither team shoots well at the line this season.
Southern Miss doesn't seem to have anyone who is a shot blocker/shot redirecting kind of player. This is a good sign for the Dawgs as well. All of their losses have come on the road. The closest home game has been 5 point game against Houston Baptist or an overtime win by 10 against Georgia State.
I think Southern Miss is solid. I think Southern Miss is good at home, but I just think we are a better and more battle tested team. I don't care what we win by, but I think we can go down and get this win by 7-14 points on the road.
At the end of the day, I hope we just get the W.
