No matter how bad or good our Marshall game attendance turns out, the SRO beatdown in Monroe will go down as a success when it was nothing but a total screwup by the goofball Wickstrom. Many of us called it weeks in advance and it happened EXACTLY like we said it would.
It would have been a great article IF it had just been about Tech. The Monroe media will never separate the two until we make it impossible to compare them.
Page 1. Not sports page 1.
It's a better story with the nlulm "facts" brought in.
A front page story gives our game some additional legs, more awareness.
"As for avoiding a sellout that produces anything less than a packed house, Tech is taking measures to ensure tickets are appropriately distributed.
The school will cap private donations at 2,300 for the time being and plans to follow up with organizations and groups like the Boys and Girls Club to confirm their presence."
....
“Really the goal isn’t to sell it out, it’s to create better attendance at all the other games,” McClelland said. “What good would we have accomplished if we sell 8,000 tickets to this one game and the rest of the games we have 800 people? At the end of the day, what you’re trying to do is create an opportunity to expose as many people to the product as possible so that your new average is higher than before.”
