Should be good for us if rewards go out according to the descriptions in the article. We've done EXACTLY what they describe. ULM might get something for the pharmacy school. Grambling doesn't deserve anything, but I bet they get as much percentage wise as the top gainers.
Hate to use the term, but we should get the lions share of that of the colleges in ULS... I know ULL will be crying cause they have more "research" dollars but a lot of theirs is wetlands and coastal studies; not really commercial R&D.The money in the incentive fund will be made available to state research institutions that produce nationally recognized commercial research and to state colleges and universities that partner with private industry to produce graduates with high-demand degrees and certificates, and enable them to link their coursework to industry needs and projected workforce demands.

Is it to all systems or just ULS?
I think the funding increase is for all the higher education systems (LSU, UL, Southern, and Community/Technical Colleges).
In addition, the governor's budget will include the $40 million state funding pool to help campuses with initiatives matching students to jobs and $12 million for other targeted projects at colleges.
The $40 million workforce incentive fund would be divvied up to research institutions that do "nationally-recognized commercial research" and to campuses that produce graduates in high-demand fields. To get the dollars, schools would have to work with private businesses and get a 20 percent funding match from industry, either through cash or equipment.
The workforce investment fund was proposed by the leaders of the state's four public college systems, and they praised Jindal's embrace of it.

Southern will get some of it too. Shameful!
You mean we're all getting back what Jindal cut?
Tom Aswell picked up some interesting intel at Wiley's funeral on Sunday.

Hardly. We get to keep the tuition increases our students will endure and we MIGHT get a cut of a $40 million pie if we partner with the businesses he wants us to (and can get them to match some of the funds). Don't get me wrong--Tech should take what it can get, but to call this a $140 million funding increase is disingenuous at best; not that we should expect any different.
I refuse to pat him on the back over 6% after what he has done over the last five years.
It sounds like the ULS will hold the purse strings, and will divvy up this money the same way they do all other funding. I won't hold my breath hoping that Tech get's what it deserves. Look for lots of "fairness" when deciding who gets what.
We all know that Jindal leans toward "fair and balanced".
Guv BJ, uh, wants to raises tuition, sports fans. $90 mil of his mentioned $140 mil increase comes by taxing students and their parents. The state is projecting a $500 mil deficit and Guv BJ is planning to squeak out $50 mil more to go with the tuition hikes??
