Dont have a problem playing K-State,,,,,,,wish we could get them home and home like USL seems to do, but we are who we are........until that changes, we will be the bitch!!
If we play them home and home we don't get the big check. We must have the big check and need two of them every year.
I expect the Miss.St. game/series to be delayed or even cancelled if the 2015 Miss St game isn't scheduled to bring in a check.
The Grambling and Army experiments aren't working. We've GOT to have the cash.
Not everyone.
Did you see KSU's other FBS non-conference game for 2015? At UTSA.
Other notable CUSA home games in 2015: Temple (Charlotte), Miami (FAU), UCF (FIU) Purdue (Marshall), Vanderbilt (MTSU), NC State (ODU), BYU & Mississippi State (USM).
The last three scheduling announcements for Tech have been OU, Auburn and KSU. Not a good trend.
Temple, UCF, and BYU don't fit in that group. They are Group of Five teams like us.
The ACC and SEC haven't gone to 9-game conference schedules like the Big 12, Big Ten, and Pac-12, which means the SEC and ACC have an extra OOC game to fill each year.
The Purdue-Marshall game was scheduled in 2010, before the Big Ten decided to go to 14 teams and 9-game conference schedules. That game will probably be bought out.
Same with K-State and UTSA. That game was scheduled in 2010 as a 2-for-1, before the Big 12 ended up with 9-game conference slates.
The point is not every one is scheduling money games. There are a number of CUSA, MAC, MWC, SBC and AAC schools are scheduling home games with each other and home games with the Big 5. We are not.
Our last three are KSU, OU and Auburn. Why? It is not a good trend. This athletic department is not headed in the right direction.
OU and Auburn were BVDs parting gift to us on his way out. Thanks for everything...
Flawed logic. '06 explained to you. 2 for 1s don't help the school getting the 1. It is a HORRIBLE deal. Very few of your list, if any, are home and home games. Even home and home games for us are not a "for sure" money maker. We MUST have the extra 2Millionish income from these games.
Doesn't matter who set them up. After another year of Holtz, we'll need more than the money we'll get for playing these games.
Two money games each year. Get used to it...
Yep. Two money games, one game of a home-and-home, and one FCS home guarantee. With the smallest budget in C-USA, we are gonna have two money games every year.
The exciting home-and-homes on our future schedules include LaLaff, South Alabama, Bowling Green, return to Texas A&M, return to UNLV?, "postponed" BYU series, and the 2-for-1 with Mississippi State.
If we had an "Alamodome"-type stadium full of fans in a market like SanAntone, yeah, we could start trending to "bigger" home opponents. If we resume our competitive level next season, I don't see any teams coming to Ruston for a trap game. The SOS specs of the FB Final Four will cause an upgrade in everyone's schedule in the Big5. Our biggest asset is we travel well and in the coming months filling those last 10k seats will start being a priority for the SEC.
And. . . . if we are gonna go the money route, our minimum cover charge should be no less than $1 million.
