NCAA Women's Triathlon approved

GREAT NEWS in gender equity and athletics: The NCAA Division I Legislative Council has approved Triathlon as an "emerging sport." Nice. I can hardly wait to see our Techster Sweatsters. Just glad I compete in the over 60 division and not against these speedsters. I'd donate to them!

"An emerging sport is a sport recognized by the NCAA that is intended to explore new sports and grow participation opportunities for female student-athletes. Institutions are allowed to use emerging sports to help meet the NCAA minimum sports sponsorship requirements, minimum financial aid award requirements, and gender equity standards."

It was started last year by a friend of mine. I don't know if they're still doing it but they had gotten funding from various sources for equipment and such.
