He's a good one, but he has his work cut out for him with that group.
Coach Kaufman is a good football coach and did great things for us. But, being Sonny Dykes' DC is one of the last jobs I would want.
Of note to me---nothing wrong wit 2 star recruits for mid level/ lower level programs but Cal is not going to be competitive doing it --last 3 recruits for Cal have been 2 stars -- not being in the top 3 of pac 12 Sonny projected--looking abysmal right now ( NO!! I am not a Sonny hater, I apreciate the attention and 4 NFL players he developed for us, but the Cal thing probably will not work out for him)
The only schools in the Pac 12 without a 2 star are ASU, Stanford, UCLA, and USC. Yes, even Oregon has one. Colorado, OSU, and Utah all have more 2 stars than Cal. Dykes was able to find some "under the radar" guys here. I suspect he is doing the same out there.
no offense meant to 2 stars, Just Sonny forcast a top 3 class in Pac 12 and he is finishing recruiting with 2 star guys -- going to be around 8-9 in pac 12. Again, I had great relationship with Sonny, he offerred my nephew scholarship when he was in Arizona and always asked me about him ( he ended up at Texas Tech-- injury ridded career, 2 masters degree and a baby ) -- He is at a Tremendous ( but too liberal for me) Institution and tons of money. New Fed chairman sworn in yesterday from Cal-- I actually check because i want him to succeed, I am not an anti-sonny guy. I defer that to folks who had differrent experience than mine or feel he impacted our not being in Bowl game -- I actually follow the careers of all our past head coaches --
Never heard about that prediction. But yes, if he wants to be more than a mid-level team, he needs to sign a lot more 4 stars (presuming they play up to thier ratings).
