LSUS is well positioned to articulate that unique identity and work with like-minded institutions to develop a comprehensive approach to this region's specific economic needs. I also think we should take a cue from UNO, and have serious conversation about rebranding ourselves as the University of Shreveport -- still sharing a system with the flagship, but fully embracing our role as North Louisiana's metropolitan university.
Very thoughtful and honest response...and you would have been weeded out immediately.

The Pennington takeover will be quick and painless like their AgCenter takeover. The Hebert Law Center takeover should also be quick and painless because the law center is located on the flagship campus even though it's an autonomous institution and most people think the law school has always been part of LSU.

After that, next year LSU will begin the takeover of LSUHSC-NO and LSUHSC-S. That could get messy.

The final takeover will be of LSUS, LSUA, and LSUE. They won't get rid of their Shreveport, Alexandria, and Eunice campuses. All three will lose their autonomy and will become part of LSU. After that? Who knows what LSU will do with those campuses? LSU won't give them up, but those won't be independent schools. LSU is making them change their colors right now to ease them into the takeover.
As predicted, here's the LSU takeover of the Hebert Law Center...

First the AgCenter and then the Law Center. Pennington is now on the clock.

Clark was one of the finalist that expressed the desire to worship at the altar of Baton Rouge: "we are not worthy....." Guess that is what the selection committee wanted to hear. Two of the other finalists made the mistake of saying (paraphrasing): LSUS needs to pull itself up by its own bootstraps. tch tch...

That said, Clark may make a good chancellor provided he remembers his "business" background and training.

University presidents should NOT be PhDs but rather MBAs who will run schools like a business. JMHO.

however, the Community Foundation's event "Give for Good" is a great thing for non-profits in the region. Its online and easy to donate for matching funds to many WORTHY groups around the ArkLaTex!!

sad a university has to intermingle with civic clubs, science organizations, and grade schools...

    http://giveforgoodnla.com/

WHAT IS GIVE FOR GOOD?Give for Good is a 24-hour online giving challenge led by The Community Foundation of North Louisiana to raise unrestricted dollars for the nonprofits in our community. It is a day of giving to celebrate the nonprofits in our community and a chance to raise thousands of dollars to make our community even better.
    WHEN IS IT?
May 6, 2014 – A national day of giving to celebrate the 100th anniversary of community foundations across the country. It celebrates and recognizes the impact we can make in our community when we Give for Good!
    WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
    • To build a broad and more engaged culture of philanthropy for our community.
    • Bring as many people as possible together around giving
    • Show North Louisiana’s spirit of giving
    • Raise awareness in the community about the many services our nonprofit community provides
    • Create more unrestricted dollars in an economy where more is being required with fewer resources
    • To build the next generation of philanthropists for the Shreveport metro area.
    HOW DOES IT WORK?
Easy! First, nonprofits will have until January 31, 2014 to create a giving profile. On May 6, 2014 anyone can visitwww.giveforgoodnla.com and choose the nonprofit(s) to which they want to give! Then dollars from our local “Lagniappe Fund” and our hourly cash prizes will be used to amplify EVERY gift!
    WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
    • Anyone can make a donation to participating nonprofits!
    • A 501(c)3 organization that completes the training process and establishes a profile on the giving site
Check the Leaderboard tab to see which nonprofits have registered to participate.

sad may not have been a good word choice. That's not the point. Out of that whole post, that's what you took from it? I just wanted folks to be aware of the event...

the whole thing is set up for community organizations, non-profit, charities,...etc

a state ran university (albeit the foundation) seems like the odd one out. You don't see Centenary, Tech, Southern Shreveport..etc in there
