So many changes were taking place in football. Our leadership had the vision to know 1AA was not going to work for us, but they did a very poor job of letting our alumni know. There never was a plan.
I think we all know Tech grads who still associate us with Gulf States, Southland, or with the other state schools. Evidence that even the best education can leave a person a dumb ass. Still it is our own fault for not continuing the education of those poor souls.
Mayor Glover is on the Tim Fletcher Show right now. Fletch asked if the bat guano at Fair Grounds Field could be used to fill in the city's pot holes, and the mayor responded that's why we need the Tech-LSUS merger so we can have the capability to research it. It was kinda half joking, half serious, but he still supports the merger.

I missed this one in Feb. when u posted it.
I'd like to add FJT went the easy route to elevate the football program by taking his "core of 14" on a little boat ride on the Ouachita and got terrific financial commitments. He did a remarkable job. But, yes, the average fan was left behind and was not catered to but was expected to catch up. The dollars for marketing were trade outs exclusively.

LSU-BR recently announced the creation of its own Cyber Research Center to be located in Baton Rouge. This research center will directly compete with Shreveport-Bossier's Cyber Innovation Center for federal and commercial research projects. See http://www.opportunitylouisiana.com/...oom/detail/593
This announcement shows that the Shreveport politicians who blocked the Tech/LSU-S merger were either: 1) foolish enough to believe that the LSU system actually cared about N. Louisiana; or 2) beholden to the interests of LSU over the interests of their own constituency. Either way, I hope the Shreveport-Bossier community remembers this the next time they are at the polls.
Wow...
Interesting fact, Dr. Guice is the Chair of the Louisiana Innovation Council, I'm assuming Jindal put him in that role to bring some of what Tech has accomplished to South Louisiana. I trust Dr. Guice wouldn't undercut Tech and that we would be competing in different Cyber arenas...
Found a funny note in meeting from July 2013

Mr. Olivier is one Michael Olivier CPA; a ULL grad. I'd venture to guess this report had info on Tech and lsu and it ruffled his feathers...LED Business Development Presentation
Kyle Zeringue, LED Director of Lead Development, presented an overview detailing strategic efforts utilized to bring companies to Louisiana. Mr. Olivier questioned the omission of a few Louisiana universities from Mr. Zeringue’s presentation. Chairman Moret stated that this presentation is not intended for the general population but targeted to recruiting companies interested in particular types of research and/or assets related to research.
