I'm not as negative as that. I believe in America and Americans. Some Americans need to be hit in the face with a wet mop before they wake up and accept reality. But, wake up they will. There will always be that segment of our population that yearn for a socialist state; the willing benefactors who are little better than sheep or cattle, suckling at the tits of the gov-mint pig, and the "pigs" of Animal Farm that prosper as poverty pimps i.e. democrap party politicians. But, good Americans, which is most of us, have got to come together and renew "AMERICA," and the true promise of America where anyone can be anything they want, and which is why so many people from other countries want to come here.
They won't wake up. They are becoming more and more sleepy and disinterested. Too many Americans (over half) are asking what the country can do for them and not what they can do for the country. I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said we will have a Republic until the people realize they can vote themselves money. We are there. The Democrats are Santa Claus and the Republicans are mean. Americans are not mature and responsible enough to vote for fiscal responsibility, imo.
I would have stopped the sentence at "vote."

This adds a new dimension towards Russia's actions to me.

Interesting article. It reminds me of a book I am reading, one chapter is about Social Proofing. When a public figure commits suicides, suicide rates go up. But here is the interesting/disturbing thing, fatal car wrecks and plane crashes go up also. Car crashes are 3 times more fatal in the 2 months following a very public suicide. The theory is that these people are really killing themselves while trying to save face with their families/friends. Commercials about teen suicide actually increase teen suicide. So, it appears if you are surrounded by depressing thoughts and surroundings, it not only causes more direct suicides, but also indirect. I cant think of a more depressing place than Russia.
We spent 10 days in Russia back in 1997, adopting our daughter. That was in January, so it was cold and dreary, but beyond that
was an obvious melancholy among the people.
Our translator, Yuri, quipped to me, "The first thing you Americans put on every morning...is your smile." His observation says more about Russians, then it does about us.
And she will get the last laugh!
