Does Arkansas have retention elections? If so, seems like he would have stood for re-election at least once.
Of course, he would have had to had an opponent.
Maggio has been relieved of all of his cases until further notice.

A judge on Wednesday agreed to a lifetime ban from the Arkansas bench for disclosing confidential details about an adoption involving actress Charlize Theron and making off-color remarks in an online forum.
"I ask that you do not define me by the sanction levied today, but instead look at my record of presiding over one of the busiest dockets in the state," wrote Maggio, who had been a circuit judge 13 years.
Maggio will have a hard time finding clients in Arkansas for his law practice. Maybe he can move to Baton Rouge and represent LSU football players as a public defendant.
So he was a bad judge who released confidential court information and a criminal. And he didn't even play sports at lsu
